Beyond the Page. Art Publication Design

The publication is a 68 page hardback, accompanying the exhibition Beyond the Page at Asia House and Manchester Art Gallery in 2006.

The publication includes contributions from Roger Connah, Hammad Nasar, Anna Sloan and Virginia Whiles. Nasar explores the idea of miniature as attitude, looking at the aspects of the miniature that have found their way into other media. Sloan traces the development of this attitude, exploring how it sits internationally within the context of contemporary installation art.

The title, foil blocked on the cover beyond the page was literally taken off the page with the ‘E’ printed on the page edges to complete the title. The publication showcased contemporary works from Pakistan therefore we took a very modernistic approach to the design and not a traditional look. Colour palette was just kept to two simple colours to allow the work itself to inject the colour.

Hammad Nasar of Green Cardamom commentsReform’s creative solution was highly innovative. This was backed up by their strength of conceptual thinking. The agency showed a comprehensive understanding and sensitivity of the exhibition and our aims.
